my place

Some random footage from my home that I originally shot for my parents. They wanted to see where I live since they still couldn’t come here to visit me in Paris in years. So I decided to edit it in a nice way, with a music and all…Then I thought, hey it’s been almost 2 years I haven’t been posting on my blog!
Hope you like it.

old house in Turkey

These are some snapshots from my elder aunt’s 120 year old house in the Black Sea region of Turkey (north). The house wasn’t inhabited since years, so it’s not in a perfect shape. and my aunt’s family has a kind of traditional way of living…but i like the vintage details, the turquoise walls (don’t even need to mention this probably) and the hand crocheted bed cover.

They gave me yellow-black -white printed pillows when I told them that I loved it! The fabric is from an old dress that my grandma once owned!

a corner of my bedroom

Hello, this is a corner of our bedroom. The artwork is a present from an architect friend. The hanger is from Casa, the necklace is made by my mum, the bedside table and lamps body are from flea markets, i painted the table to blue. The rug is composed by 4 small mats that i bought each for 2 euros. The lampshade is from Habitat.

lampe hallogene

Ok, let’s speak some french in respect to my french name (décologue) and to my geographical being ;) From now on, i’ll use the turquoise color all the things i write in FR, and black for the english version.

So here is a wood hallo lamp that i picked at Emmaus (charity flea markets in France) for 5 euros in october when we moved in Caen. I decorated it with decollage technique. Frankly speaking, i don’t like halo lamps’ design, i think it’s corny, however, there’s nothing to say about it’s way of lightning which is even adjustable.

mirrors are beautiful

Yesterday, i had my day out in the flea markets outside of the town. I saw a beautiful mirror like the oval one on the left side of the picture above. In fact it was exactly the same. It was 18 euros. I don’t know why i didin’t buy it directly. I know this, each time i hesitate buying something and finally don’t, i regret it deeply. No regrets anymore, and more action :)

muse-en-scene: in the mood for love

Follow my blog with bloglovin

For those who don’t know me personally, I am coming from a "film making" background.  When i was planning to launch this blog, i had this category about home interiors in the movies. I call it "muse-en-scene".

So here you have the first post of this category. I wanted to launch it with one of my favourite director of all times: Wong Kar Wai. I am a huuuge fan of his cinematography, lightning, simple and touching stories, characters…everything he does in fact.

In the mood for love is, in my point of view, the climax in his stylish cinematography. Interiors of Hong-Kong flats are so tiny, yet so ingeniously shot , Maggie Cheung’s dresses are in a perfect harmony with every scene she is in, yet  it doesn’t feel superficial. I love the richness of the patterns and colours on the walls, dresses, beds etc..I am not going to talk more, but let you see some of the screenshots i have. I almost wanted to capture every single image of this movie, it’s a piece of art.

All about my mother – Part III

And finally here are the other two guest houses’ pictures. That issue of the HomeArt magazine was very generous about my mother’s (aka Bihter Turkfiliz) project.(i am sorry for the lousy scans by the way)

I love this last guest house! The rock with birds on it and the tree makes this place a Tim Burtonesque decor (says the editor of the magazine).

In fact, the most fun part of these houses were the bathrooms for me. We don’t see them much in detail here, but each of them are designed to make it possible to watch the view from inside, and the best part is that nobody sees you from the outside!

all about my mum part II

I must say having grown up in this mediterranean village called Kas, this is the dream house for me. I hope that one day, i’ll have a similar place designed by my mum and i’ll stare peacefully the beautiful sunsets from my garden, while my child (or children?) is playing next to me.

The first picture on the left is the small bridge between the main house and the guest house. The doors are all crafted by a very talented local wood worker. Some of the furniture in the house is from the owner’s (mostly the antique ones). My mother picked the rest from different stores such as Mudo Concept etc…All the natural looking wood furnitures (stools, bench etc. are crafted by the same woodworker)

And here she is, i miss her soooooo freakingly much!

decologue proudly presents her first post: all about my mother

I am happy to finally launch my blog. This is still the beta version though. Here is my first sharing with you. And i am so proud of it:

It’s my adorable mum who built this wonderful villa last year. The house is in the Mediterranean cost of Turkey, in a small village called Kas. The pictures are all taken from the turkish HomeArt Magazine. (editor: Nahide Toros and photographer: Ersen Corekci, all my greetings to them) I was there most of the during the construction, and i can tell you that she really puts her heart on everything she does. For this project for instance, she did all the ceramics by her self (fish on the swimming pool, the turning dervish sculpture in the garden, mosaics on the dining area outside, the ceramic tree on the bathroom’s wall…) as well as the stencils and drawings on the pillows. There are so many details, i probably don’t remember everything!

I love the way she kept the big rock in the middle of the house, it is so beautifully integrated in the decor. The same rock continues in the small batroom (in the last small picture), you can see the reflection on the mirror.
